Why Aris Exists

Publishers control your work, your timeline, your audience

Publish when ready, keep full rights, reach readers directly

Research is locked in static PDFs that break on phones

Web-native papers with interactive figures, readable on any device

Readers can't see how conclusions were reached

Version history shows every change. Interactive data reveals methodology. Open research you can verify.

Four Pillars

Every tool we build stands on these foundational principles.

Universal

Works on any device, for any user, in any context. Online or offline. No barriers to access.

Transparent

Your research, your control. Everything is exportable, versionable, and built on open standards.

Interactive

Research is conversation. Live figures, explorable data, and content that responds to the reader.

Humane

Beautiful, effortless experiences that respect your time, humanity, and let you focus on what matters.

About Aris

Research infrastructure hasn't kept up with research. The tools are closed when they should be open. Rigid when they should adapt. Designed for paper and broken on pixels. Built for institutions, not for the researchers who do the work.

Aris is the open research stack. Open source, community-owned, web-native, built around the research, not the journal. Press archives interactive HTML papers with permanent URLs and DOIs. Studio is a collaborative editor for semantic research documents. Both are free, both are open source, and both evolve as research technology changes.

Built by a network scientist with 20 years of experience writing code. No investors. No exits. No platform lock-in or dark patterns. Just better infrastructure for scientific research.
